I was at the MEC today, and the fellow there suggested Maxxis High Rollers 2.35.

He thought the Kenda and Minions might be too heavy for riding up the hill, and instead suggested pumping up the High Rollers, and then letting some air out to soften them up for the downslope.

The High Rollers are a lot lighter, single ply...

I'm just more and more confused... keep in mind I'm riding a hard tail not a DH bike.

Depends on which version of the Kenda's you look at. There is a singly-ply, kevlar bead version which is very light for the size, and a multii-ply DH version that's much heavier (but more durable). I use the lighter version in 2.35, although I did shred the sidewall of the rear fairly quickly.

Nothing wrong with High Rollers - if you can get them in a soft, sticky durometer they'd probably be great.

High Rollers?

I use michelins or maxxis as they are both good all round tires. they last well and have good grip and rolling resistance.

I currently use the Nevegals and love them. I've also used the Fire XC Pro's and Tioga Factory DH's and can say with complete confidence that neither tire should be seen within a hundred miles of a rain soaked, rooty BC trail. They are best suited for dry hardpack.

I only use michelins, they last much longer and grip better, plus they're ust tubeless. well worth $100.

Just curious, what tires do most people prefer for our slippery slopes?

Panaracer Fire XC Pro $25
Tioga Factory DH $35-40
Maxis Minion $58
Kenda Nevegal $68
Michelins Comp 16, 24, 32 $first born

My own stock Hutchinson Mosquitos 26 X 2.0 are about done for on my Kona hardtail, and I could always use some sage advice.

I could fit 26 X 2.3 tires, any advice...is bigger better?
