Dead Moped - extension

At the end of Dead Moped (North side) there is a trail up to the fire road, and one back South along the refinery fence, but there is a third trail that goes off into Port Moody. I don't see it on the Bby Map, but wondered if a) it is not an official trail or b) it is Port Moody trail and so not listed.

Just wondering where is goes and comes out? I beetled down it part way but had to head back (alas this part of the Mtn has good cell phone reception) before I could get all the way.

The trail at the end of dead moped heading north is actually not part Burnaby Mountain but belongs to the local friendly gas company. If you take this trail it kicks you out about half way down the Trans Canada trail heading north.

Thanks,

The bit I travelled was all nice and curvy, but heading downward... and I thought I'd end up lost in Port Moody, before I rode back up the trail to Dead Moped.

8 wheels or 2, so hard to decide...

Who ever cleaned up the ramp and teeter totter on the "cross country leg" of Dead Moped -- thanks, good work.

Now if we could just cut back the thorned brambles that seem to be encroaching on the lower portion of Eastern (running along the fence) trail.

Does the parks board have some sort of trail Zamboni, that cuts a swathe thru the encroaching brambles? Jim's Jungle could use a bit of widening too, mind you the salmon berries are all ripening up fast so you can eat on the wheel...

I road through the whole trail, including the UNofficial part (which is pretty basic) and I don't know exactly where I was wehn I was at the end but I presumed I was near the highway as I could see cars. I though I may be on the powerline since I was right under a big powerline cable, but I didn't see any big gravel road. All there was was a sort of trail you could say, that was defined through the grass. It looked like a few people had ridden it, but I didn't want ot risk injuring omyself or anything else. Personally, I wouldn't recommend going to the very END of the trail as the UNofficial part is filled iwth tress adn bushes. Also many parts have giant trees with no way to hop over them. So I ended up having to carry my mike mostly to the end. I don't think you could expand Dead Moped much after the power line as if you kept on going straugh you would hit the highway pretty soon.
