loading your personal avatar

Seems everytime you attempt to upload an avatar, you get the msg 'access denied'.....is there a permissions problem loading pics?
I've got many pics that match the criteria of 80x80 pixels and under 6K, but the err msg keeps occuring......... any one else successfull? if so what's the trick?

Looks like someone changed some directory permissions around which broke the avatar checking functions.
I tried testing it but ended up breaking my old avatar instead. We'll need the webmaster or possibly the server host to fix this.
