Bby Mtn Bike Park
I finally got to ride @ the bike park. The conditions were pretty poor - alot of rain has caused mud puddles and the ground to be quite soft.
So, the table top jumps @ the bottom were too soft to ride, but the drops @ the top of the park were excellent! I'm used to hucking drops rather than table tops anyway so I had a great time launching off the drops and then blasting through the rock garden area.
The wooden pump track is pretty fun, but really hard to do on a bigger FS bike.
The log rides/skinnies and teeters are also great - nice progressions for all lines.
Last thing to say is that I actually made it over the cable line skinny! It looks harder than it is!
Overall I'd say the park is excellent! I'm looking forward to riding when I can hit the table tops and wall rides.
What are your thoughts...

Rain, Rain Go Away....
Personally I'm thinking about building an ark, or taking up kayaking.
8 wheels or 2, so hard to decide...
Raining and it's COLD
I'm thinking about bringing in a line of spring/summer parkas - a needed item these days :-)
Gotta Ride!
Bike Park FROM A 15 YEAR OLDS Perspective
Younger bro A and his son A and friend B just dropped by after four hours in the park. Bro A borrowed my Specialized Enduro Pro circa 2003 the past week. He is used to the big Norco 7", however he blew out the shocks and Sharpeys have sent out for serious rebuild. He hated to admit but he loved the all mountain bike and the Enduro's quick turning and lightness. He miss's the big hit forks and down hill comfort of the Norco. Apples and oranges I know but it is always cool to try out other bikes. I thought I would ask the two 15 year olds what kind of shape the park is in from their point of view, not a 46 year old bike happy guy going through his third mid life crisis. First off these two can ride and jump like Hoots with 6 Red Bulls in him. Bro A has been taking the boys to Whistler for ever and they have been ripping Thrill to Kill and other Whistler trails. (Thanks WORCA).
As we were watching the last 15 laps of the red neck Nascar race from Kansas( don't ask) the boys filled me in on the park.
Both ride the park 2-4 times a week. They love the park and said today was very busy with a big birthday party for some lucky boys around 12 years old. Wow!!! how cool is that. A birthday party in a bike park. I don't think we ever thought about that ever happening when we visited the parks board years ago to plead our case. Thats a good one for updates with the city on the park. The boys said the jumps are in good shape with the only real problem being beginners landing on top of the jumps and recking the tops of the jumps. I was quiet due to me resembling this problem beginner. The gravel has been a constant problem and the new gravel is in their words good and bad. Some of the outruns and exit points have some deep ruts that needs work. I need a little help on this one. Can someone fill me in on the gravel situation. I can tell you a million things about ski racing courses but I need some help with erosion and the gravel being used.
They love the big wall and said the grafitti sucks. The skinnys and pump tracks are way cool. The chains and cable was a nice touch. All in all they love the park and A is finished with soccer to concentrate on riding and skiing. The park was busy today so the boys even rode east and up TC Trail and all of dead moped and back. They whined a little about the steepness of TC but had a great day. The young A now wants a cross country/all mountain bike for the trail riding along with his big bruiser-how cool. His dad said he can buy himself for he has a very good job at the local mountain. I asked if they saw/seen any girls on the trail and B said ya-but they were going the other way on Dead Moped. I told him thats when you turn around and meet them in the skills park and show off. He thought that was a good idea.
P.S.This old guy got to ride the dirt pump track a few weeks back when there was some serious water still left in the figure eights. No worries about erosion but you dare not fall in front of a mess of 15 year olds. We may have to keep on eye on this in the rainy months and possibly drainage solution. Still real cool that our kids still ride and ski with us. Take it while we still can.

Local Rippers at Bike Park
20+ Riders, from 6- 40 something. Bar spins, supermans, no handers, tail whips, a huge 360 (Bearclaw like from a 17 year old) and four riders at a time way high up on the big wall. Whistler, North Shore ? No-our very own Bike park on Tuesday night in North Burnaby. After a short ride looping Hang your hat, Elephant whatever ? I headed back to the park to find a good crowd using the park, It was good to see so many. Bros oldest son A was just getting going. They said it was a very busy night-have you ever been to the Whistler bike park on any weekend or even the jump park down by Fitzimmins creek ? Camera ready the boys lined up. You have to be very careful when shooting tots, teens and adults in the jump park. Make sure you know first aid. They showed there stuff for all. It was very impressive. The boys then moved to the upper park and the older guys were flying off the walls. The photos sucked but I got a few short videos of the boys four at a time way high on the wall. I will try to get that up somehow. There is some new sketchy photos up in the gallery under user albums. I will post some good photos down the road. The park has been a great addition to the mountain. Get down there and ride or just watch the kids fly.
Hang your hat is eroding rather heavy on the downhill/north side. There are hardly any riders on this trail however we will have to shore up the trail before it gets serious. I will notify BMBA.

Videos of You Guys Impressing the Hell Out of a Couple Old Guys
Clump,
You guys impressed the hell out of us old guys and the younger ones. That was some impressive riding. I have some crappy shots of most of the riders. I will post a couple of shots temporarily due to poor quality. I have a video of you hitting the first wall, over the small berm and nailing the big wall. I will get to you. I have a sketchy video of the four of you hitting the big wall. Three of you are on the wall at the same time with the fourth rider close behind. Very cool to watch. The video is 26 mb and my bro and I are swearing throughout. Lots of fun. We will be doing another photo session with two photogs and the big cameras over the next week or so. We will probably do it on a Saturday. Will give more notice here and hopefully blue skies. Great riding.
