MTB only trails

What is the position of the City of Burnaby and the BMBA regarding mtb only trails?

I have been in numerous potentially dangerous situations with hikers this year, all of them wearing ipods and looking down as they hike nicoles, oblivious to me or anyone else on the trail. It's only a matter of time till someone gets smoked, or it is already is happening. With the addition of the skills park, it would appear to me that the city council has acknowledged that there is a significant user group to justify that expense. They have built up an area to practice and learn new skills that include jumping, drops, woodwork etc... which is great. Now the next step I would think, is to build a trail network that would allow us to use those learned skills. Most of us ride trails and use the "Skills Park" to practice so that when we get to the actual trails we can ride it. If they have incorporated "expert" stunts there, why not on the mountain, maybe build up trails above the skills park and have the same signage etc they have down below?

Is there potential for something like this to happen?
