Dog Incident.

I was out for a ride up SFU on Sunday and witnessed a family of walkers with small kids get quite scared with a bikers two dogs running loose. The mother was quite furious especially with the fact the rider said nothing and kept riding on. I was coming the other way and did not see what the dogs had done but the family was very upset. I know a lot of people ride with dogs and I don’t want to turn this into a huge debate but riders with dogs need to be more considerate and try to control dogs on trails. A few complaints about dogs not on leashes could bring problems to riding in the area.

Wildlife '07

So what are people seeing on the Mtn so far this year.

Three bald eagles.

Two rabbits, but it might have been one (seen going up and coming down).

One deer.

A very large orange slime mold colony (after those rainy days, alas disperesed already).

Need to learn my birds, but a few Northern Flicker and Stellar's Jays.

Your turn...

Upper Mel's thru Naheeno Park

After reviewing the most up to date Burnaby Mountain trail map, I noticed that upper Mel's is not marked (the part that goes from the University thru Naheeno Park to the start of Mel's).

Does it still exist?

I want to ride there this weekend and I haven't been in a while.
