I purchase a Norco bike this past spring which I ride to work every day (20km round trip). The trail I take is very hard packed and in general rides like a paved trail. I've been having problems with my rear wheel (it's a Norco Kokanee, hard tail, shocks on the front) getting out of true. I've trued it back again twice already using home made tools.

The first time I did it I over tightened several of the spokes. The second time I think I did a pretty good job, but I have since broken two spokes at the hub.
